Joe Patrice  has a degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Oregon (My Alma Mater) and  J.D. from the NYU School of Law.  Starting in 2001, he worked as a litigator , representing a variety of individuals, institutions, and foreign sovereigns in criminal and civil matters. Joe left legal practice in 2012 to pursue writing, contributing to numerous publications, including Above The Law, before joining its full-time staff in 2013

Joe told me his podcasting history, including his early offering, a political news oriented blog and show entitled “Recess Appointment

 

After Joining Above The Law in 2013, Joe began pitching podcast ideas, and after a few false-starts, the organization recently began “Thinking Like A Lawyer”  in which he and co-host Elie Mystal are joined by a guest lawyer to discuss legal issues ranging from the practical to the absurd.

Joe is a proponent of podcasting as a medium, and as a tool for lawyers marketing their firms. His advice?  “Just go out there and do it,” he says.   His point being, that if you don't just get started, you'll never get anywhere.
